Tangerang, Banten (ANTARA News) - Transportation Minister EE Mangindaan inspected Soekarno-Hatta Airport in Tangerang, Banten, to see its readiness to serve post-fasting Idul Fitri holiday of lebaran travelers.

Before inspecting the airport, the minister led a call-roll marking the start of Idul Fitri exodus pacification where millions of people went to their home towns to celebrate the Lebaran festivities.

In his address, the minister asked apparatuses such as police, communications service officials and those of other related agencies to extend help for travelers who needed information that would help smooth their trips and prevent disturbance.

"Based on reports from its authorities, Soekarno-Hatta airport is now ready to service travelers going home (mudik) for Idul Fitri holidays," the minister said.

Soekarno-Hatta is the biggest airport in Indonesia and is ready to serve Lebaran revelers, he said.

In the meantime, Deputy Chief of Jakarta Police Brig. Gen. Sudjarno obliged all drivers of public transportation, particularly buses, to undertake urine tests in efforts to ensure the safety of passengers during Idul Fitri holiday trips to their home towns.

He said that National Narcotics Agency (BNN) was also expected to conduct urine tests on drivers for 24 hours like what would be done at security command posts and in other facilities during the post-fasting holiday of Lebaran trips.

"Security officers are ready to secure the Idul Fitri exodus. It is expected that urine tests could be done 24 hours. All bus drives must have their urine tested," the Jakarta police deputy chief said when inspecting the readiness of Kampung Rambutan Intercity Bus Terminal.

He said that his sides had also assured the readiness of other terminals in Jakarta to serve Idul Fitri travelers such as Pulogadung Terminal and the Pasar Senen station.

"We will inspect the readiness of Lebak Bulus bus terminal and Gambir Railway station tomorrow," he added.
