"We can`t achieve zero-hole target this year, since the project has just been entered in the electronic catalog system for procurement. Therefore, we will make it come true in 2014," Jakarta Vice Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama said.
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Government of Jakarta Capital Regions has planned to reach the zero-hole roads target throughout the area in 2014.

"We cant achieve zero-hole target this year, since the project has just been entered in the electronic catalog system for procurement. Therefore, we will make it come true in 2014," stated Jakarta Capital Regions Vice Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama here, on Wednesday.

According to Basuki, the electronic catalog or e-catalog system will make the procurement process more efficient and effective as compared to the conventional tender auction system.

Since the e-catalog system is new, the requirements for upgrading the roads throughout Jakarta, such as asphalts, hot-mixes and concretes, have just been submitted for procurement next year, added Basuki.

"When the operating system has run normally, the procurement process will be done faster, and so will its fulfillment," he added.

Based on Public Works Department data, from January to November 2013, Jakarta still had 81 points of severely damaged roads, 162 points of lightly damaged roads and 35 points of holey roads.

Thus, the Capital Region has allocated Rp131.7 billion from the 2013 regional budget for upgrading roads through roads and bridges maintenance budget.

The Government of Jakarta has also allocated Rp50 billion, with a total of Rp250 billion, for street improvements in each of the Capitals regions.(*)
