Head of SAR Denpasar, Bali, Didi Hamzar told Antara in Jakarta over the phone, on Tuesday evening, that one of the two missing female divers from Japan had been found at Serangan Island Water Spot, 12 nautical miles from Nusa Lembongan Sea, where they had been reported missing on Friday (Feb. 14).
"We received a report from a resident who saw a person floating in Serangan Island Water Spot, and we quickly followed up on this report," Hamzar said.
According to Hamzar, the SAR team found the female Japanese diver floating on the sea. It was difficult to identify her since she was wearing a wet suit and had suffered severe burns to her face.
After being rescued by the SAR team, she was rushed to Sanglah Hospital in Denpasar. She was reported to be conscious but had suffered severe dehydration and extreme hair loss.
The SAR team will continue searching for the other missing Japanese diver by combing the Sanur coastal area near Nusa Lembongan Sea tomorrow morning, dependent on favourable weather conditions.
Seven female Japanese tourists were reported missing on Friday at 7 p.m. local time. They were diving in the waters of Nusa Lembongan on Friday at around 1:30 p.m. local time but had failed to surface at the end of their dive at 2 p.m. local time.
Now, six of the seven Japanese tourists have reportedly survived after going amiss while diving around the Jungut Batu Mangrove Forest in the Nusa Lembongan Sea on Friday.(*)
