Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Indonesian Foreign Affairs Minister Marty Natalegawa and his Philippine counterpart Albert F. del Rosario discussed the South China Sea issue at the sixth RI-Philippine Joint Commission meeting for Bilateral Cooperation (JCBC) here on Monday.

"We discussed regional issues, including the latest development in the South China Sea dispute," Marty said after the meeting on Monday.

He noted that Indonesia emphasized the importance of solving the South China Sea issue through diplomatic means and the application of code of conduct that has been agreed upon.

"Besides the Philippine foreign minister, I have also discussed the matter lately with the foreign ministers of China, Japan, and the United States. The main point is to find the solution to the South China Sea dispute through peaceful diplomatic means," he noted.

According to him, the Philippine foreign minister also explained his countrys view on the dispute in South China Sea, particularly Manilas effort at solving the problem through the legal process.

"Through the ASEAN, we have a code of conduct between ASEAN and China, but there is also an effort from The Philippines through the tribunal court," he explained.

Marty asserted that Indonesia, in principle, supported every effort to solve the South China Sea dispute problem so long as it is conducted peacefully.
