To promote the 115th Canton Fair, a delegation led by Xu Bin, Deputy Director of the China Foreign Trade Centre, held a roadshow in Jakarta from March 1st to 4th. At the meeting were representatives from the Chinese Embassy, the Indonesia China Business Council, the Indonesian Ministry of Commerce and the Association of Indonesian Regency Governments (APKASI). The roadshow was also attended by about 140 members of the public and members of the press.
The event was organized by the Indonesia China Business Council which is headed by Lin Wenguang. The China Business Council was established in 2002 and serves to promote and develop trade ties between Indonesia and China and has worked closely with the Canton Trade Fair.
The meeting was chaired by the Head of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce who gave a speech. The acting Chinese Commercial Attache also spoke, delivering the keynote address. In a warmly received speech, he expressed the hope that Indonesian entrepreneurs would take advantage of the Fair to continue to develop trade relations between Indonesia and China and promote the balanced development of bilateral trade between the two countries.
Before the meeting, Xu Bin gave an interview to the press and noted that the 115th Canton Fair would focus on green development, e-commerce and a better quality of exhibitors. He noted that the 114th Fair attracted 189,646 buyers from 212 countries and regions with over 5600 Indonesian businessmen attending.
Liu Jianjun, spokesman for the 114th Fair, stated that the Fair would continue to "keep up the momentum and make progress, forge ahead and spur innovation, improve exhibition organization and quality as well as provide a sound negotiating environment for exhibitors and buyers."
In 2014, the Fair will be held between April 15th and May 5th. As a platform for economic and trade activities between China and the world, the upcoming 115th Canton Fair will be the cynosure for all eyes.
The Canton Fair organizers look forward to welcoming all participants to the 2014 event, the best window onto China's increasingly lucrative marketplace.
