Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Vice-President Jusuf Kalla said the government is looking to reform the bureaucracy and investment permit process by implementing Single Window Integrated Service (PTSP) in the Indonesia Investment Coordinating Board.

"We have understood that our administrative process has weaknesses and our permit procedure for investments is complex. However, the government is trying to rectify these problems," Kalla said here on Wednesday, Jan 28.

According to Kalla, President Joko Widodo has inaugurated the Single Window Integrated Service to shorten and facilitate the permit process for making investments in Indonesia.

The service, noted the Vice-President, will help the government achieve its development targets, including the 35,000 MW power project that will need USD45 billion.

"We often hear potential investors complaining about our complex administration processes. We hope PTSP will solve all the issues related to permit procedures," the Vice-President remarked while addressing the Japanese Nikkei Forum.

The implementation of PTSP will make way for better investments. "Last year, Indonesia marked an economic growth of 5.2 percent even under difficult situations. I believe that Indonesia will achieve 6 percent growth rate under better conditions and we have already started the process to achieve it," Kalla observed.

The Vice-President pointed out that Japanese investors who run business in Indonesia have helped the Indonesian people by providing them with employment opportunities.

"I appreciate the Japanese business people who have contributed to Indonesias growth by creating jobs, developing its economy, and giving added values that have improved the Indonesia-Japan relationship," Kalla stated.

The Vice-President hopes to enhance the cooperation between Indonesia and Japan in the future.(*)
