The police will ask how Akil Mochtar had handled the election dispute when Widjojanto was the lawyer of the plaintiff.Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The National Police Criminal Investigation Board (Bareksrim) is set to question former Constitutional Court chief Akil Mochtar in the case against Deputy Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Bambang Widjojanto.
"It is true. We will ask him for a clarification in his capacity as the chief of the panel of judges of the Constitutional Court," spokesman for the Bareskrim, Snr. Comsr. Daniel Bolly Tifaona, said here on Tuesday.
Tifaona affirmed that the police will ask for a clarification from Mochtar, who had led the panel of judges when the Constitutional Court had handled the dispute over the Kotawaringin Barat district head election in 2010.
The police will ask how Mochtar had handled the election dispute when Widjojanto was the lawyer of the plaintiff, the Bareskrim spokesman added.
However, he refused to specify whether Mochtar would be confronted with Widjojanto in the next investigation.
The Bareskrim had detained Widjojanto for questioning on January 23 at 7.30 a. m. local time, when he was driving his son to his elementary school.
The police have named the KPK deputy chairman a suspect in a case concerning the 2010 district head election dispute. He has been accused of prompting a witness to give a false testimony at the Constitutional Court regarding the election dispute case when he was still a lawyer.(*)
