Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Russian President Vladimir Putin exchanged congratulatory messages early this week with his Indonesian counterpart Joko Widodo on the 65th anniversary of the establishment of the two countries diplomatic relations.

Putin noted that the traditionally friendly Russian-Indonesian relations continued its dynamic development and stressed the readiness for further constructive cooperation for the benefit of strengthening bilateral contacts, an emailed release from the Russian embassy office made available to ANTARA said here on Thursday.

Furthermore, this Russian president emphasized that aspirations of the Russia are in line with that of Indonesian people who are interested in ensuring stability and security in the Asia-Pacific region.

In return, President Joko Widodo in his message stressed the fact that, given the rich potential of interaction between the two countries, Indonesia is ready to continue the work on strengthening contacts with Russia not only in bilateral format but also on international arena.

Russian Foreign Affairs Minister Sergey V.Lavrov and his Indonesian counterpart Mrs Retno Marsudi also exchanged messages of congratulations.

Lavrov noted that a new boost was given to the development of the entire complex of Russian-Indonesian relations following the meeting of the Russian and Indonesian presidents during the APEC Summit in Beijing in November 2014.

He also confirmed Russian intention to continue working to strengthen bilateral relations and ensure stability and security in the Asia-Pacific Region and the entire world.

In the meantime, Retno was reported to be ready to join efforts to implement the agreements reached by the two countries leaders and further strengthen the bonds of friendship and cooperation between the peoples of Russia and Indonesia. (*)
