Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Australian Ambassador to Indonesia Paul Grigson met Vice President M. Jusuf Kalla at the Vice Presidential Office, here on Tuesday, to discuss investment and economic relations between the two neighboring countries.

During the hour-long meeting, Grigson discussed in detail about economic relations and explored the possibility of increasing Australian investment in Indonesia and vice versa.

"We spoke at length about investment such as enhancing business in the tourism sector. I think this is a good investment opportunity for Indonesia. We also discussed about food, meat, and agriculture," he noted.

Dewi Fortuna Anwar, the vice presidents deputy secretary for political affairs, remarked that a wide range of priority issues were discussed during the meeting.

"Mr. Vice President has repeatedly stated that the relations between Australia and Indonesia are good and multidimensional. There are economic, security, and people-to-people relations. But, in the long run, economic relations are high on the list of priorities," she emphasized.

Anwar further noted that the vice president underscored the significance of the economic relations between the two countries, particularly with regard to animal husbandry.

"The ambassador stated that Indonesia is a large market for animal husbandry products. He saw a huge opportunity to develop animal husbandry," she affirmed.

At the meeting, the vice president also explored the possibility of Australia providing training to Indonesian tourism officers, she said.

"Mr. Vice President asked whether there is a possibility of Australia following in the lines of South Korea and Japan to provide such training," she added.
