In Bandung, 95 percent of the work was completed yesterday, but in Jakarta it is 98 percent."Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Preparations for the 60th anniversary celebrations of the Asian-African Conference (AAC) in Jakarta are 98 percent complete, Vice President M. Jusuf Kalla said.
"In Bandung, 95 percent of the work was completed yesterday, but in Jakarta it is 98 percent," the Vice President said while inspecting preparations at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC) on Saturday.
Kalla noted that the anniversary celebrations of the AAC this year would serve as a good momentum to evaluate inter-state relations among countries in Asia and Africa for the past six decades.
"The AAC event will also serve as an evaluation of what has happened during the past 60 years in Asia and Africa, and of what really worked and what did not work," he remarked.
Earlier on Saturday morning, the VP also inspected preparations at the Halim Perdanakusuma airport, which will be the location for transit and passport checks for the state guests who will attend the event.
"The preparations, including the services and technical matters are almost complete, only the rehearsal has to be taken care of," the VP said at the JCC.
Kalla explained that all the funds for the event had been submitted to the organizing committee.
The Asian-African Conference 2016 will take place from April 19 to 24 in Jakarta and Bandung, and the state guests for the event are scheduled to start arriving at Halim Perdanakusuma airport on Sunday.
After the opening ceremony at the Jakarta Convention Center, delegates from 29 countries will gather in Bandung to discuss issues related to peace, security, and economic development in the region.
