Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Thirty-eight people were wounded after a commuter train hit another stationary train at a station here on Wednesday.

PT KAI Commuter Jabodetabek (KCJ) stated that 13 of the wounded were treated at the RSPAD hospital, two at the Tarakan regional hospital and the rest at the RS Husada hospital.

The accident occurred at around 3.30pm at the Djuanda station in Central Jakarta.

The KA 1154 commuter train for Jakarta Kota from Bogor, West Java, hit KA 1156 train that was serving the same route.

Due to the mishap, the Bogor-Jakarta Kota commuter service would be run from the Manggarai station in South Jakarta for the time being.

No one died in the accident while PT KCJ has tendered a formal apology to the public in this connection.

Police are still investigating the case. Jakarta Metropolitan Police chief, Inspector General Tito Karnavian, said he would wait for the results of the investigation being conducted by the National Committee for Transportation Safety (KNKT) to determine the cause of the incident.

"We are still waiting for the process of evacuation to be over and the investigation by the KNKT, the Central Jakarta police, the Metropolitan Police and PT KAI to be completed," he said at the Djuanda station.

Therefore, he said he was not in a position to say whether the incident was caused by negligence or if a criminal factor was involved.(*)
