"Our athletes competed in high spirits although they were still fasting," chief of the Indonesian rowing team, Nurdin Purnomo, stated in an e-mail received here on Monday.
The Indonesian Muslims started fasting during the month of Ramadhan from June 6, 2016.
According to him, the Indonesian team achieved the two medals in the category of 200 meters and 500 meters.
In the 200 meters category, the countrys team finished in 47.10 seconds, surpassing the Guangxi Universitys team which bagged the silver medal with a timing of 48.57 seconds.
Meanwhile, the bronze medal was won by the team from the Province of Dongguan Jun Ma, China, with a timing of 49.76 seconds.
In the 500 meters event, the Indonesian team won the top honor with 17.29 seconds, leaving its competitors far behind.
The Guangxi Universitys team, which finished in 21.08 seconds, won the silver, while the bronze medal was bagged by the China Dongguan dragon boat team which finished in 21.53 seconds.
Two days earlier, the Indonesian team had also emerged as the overall champion at the dragon boat Hakka international race at Kaifeng, Henan Province, China.
At this championship, the Indonesian team defeated the teams from China, South Korea, Taiwan and Hong Kong.
The ASEAN countries which participated in the dragon race included Myanmar and Thailand.
