Jakarta (ANTARA News) - A Commission X member of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Puti Guntur Soekarnoputri, stated her hope that the Tour de Linggarjati sport event would attract tourists to visit Kuningan District in West Java Province.

"As a parliament member who was elected in Kuningan District, I should support the success of the Tour de Linggarjati," Puti said, in a press release received here on Saturday.

She noted there were many tourism sites in Kuningan District, such as the Linggarjati Historical Site, Sanggarahiang Ancient Site, the hot springs and sulphur area.

Puti added that the event could trigger wider potential investment in the tourism sector in Kuningan District. She also supported the local administration in developing and improving services in the tourism sector.

Additionally, the Head of the District of Kuningan, Acep Purnama, said his administration has prepared to serve the participants of Tour de Linggarjati.

"We hoped the event can promote potential investment in Kuningan and develop its tourism sector," Purnama said.

The Tour de Linggarjati competition began Friday (Oct 28). At least seven countries are participating.

The international event Tour de Linggarjati 2016 is the second competition being held in the district, which will be divided into three areas.

The participant will race at 345 kilometers and pass through 20 sub-districts and 180 villages. According to the committee, the track condition has been improved.

The chairman of the committee of the Tour de Linggarjati, Dian Rahmat Januar, said there are 20 teams, including ten national teams and ten international teams, joining the event.

Countries that are participating include Australia, Switzerland, Thailand, Austria, Viet Nam, and Philippines.

The participants will compete in three different classes, including Individual Time Trials, Road Race and Circuit Race, and Criterium. The winner will receive Rp500 million.
