Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Vice President M. Jusuf Kalla has asked Jakartas non-active governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok) to undergo the legal process, after the police named him a suspect in the religious blasphemy case.

"Ahok must undergo the legal process and he has promised to do it," Kalla said, in response to police decision to name Ahok as a suspect in the religious blasphemy case, here on Wednesday.

The Indonesian Police named him a suspect after learning the outcome of a case screening regarding allegations against Ahok on Tuesday.

The Vice President has called on the public to follow the process calmly and peacefully.

"(He is) a suspect, not yet defined as guilty. Let us see," he added.

Ahok is named a suspect based on Section 156A criminal code or section 28(2) Law 11/2008 on Electronic Information and Transaction.
