Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Indonesian National Shipping Company PT. Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia (Pelni) was bestowed the ASEAN Risk Award 2017.

"The award was received by VP Corporate Planning Andi Samsul Hadi, representing the Board of Directors of PT Pelni, on Thursday (Dec 7) night in Yogyakarta," Pelni`s Corporate Secretary Didik Dwi Prasetio noted in Malang, East Java on Friday.

He remarked the award was a mark of recognition for the intensive and continuous implementation of risk management practices by Pelni.

"We, along with 30 state-owned and private companies, are participating in the ASEAN-level event," Prasetio revealed.

The award ceremony was organized by the Enterprise Risk Management Academy based in Singapore and was attended by several risk management professionals from over 100 countries.

He noted that Pelni was assessed by independent panelists from various countries since early November 2017.

"The hard work of the sea transportation service company that operates 83 ships deserves an award and accolades," Prasetio remarked.

Pelni was nominated in four categories: Public Risk, Public Initiative, Risk Innovation, and Risk Technology.

Prasetio noted that the award demonstrates that Pelni had succeeded in improving its internal conditions to gain recognition from an international institution.

According to Prasetio, this award also encourages Pelni to continue making innovations to realize its vision of "Becoming a Customer`s Choice Preferred Shipping Company."

A total of 36 companies from 10 countries in Southeast Asia participated in the ASEAN Risk Award. The award was bestowed on organizations that had sought initiatives in risk management and effectively managed the risks faced by the public.
