Tangerang, Banten (ANTARA News) - The Soekarno-Hatta Airport Community (Kombatta) has declared support to ensure the success of the 18th Asian Games, which will take place in the cities of Jakarta and Palembang from Aug 18 to Sept 2.

Speaking at the Hangar 4 of the Garuda Maintenance Facility (GMF) AeroAsia on Thursday, the airport`s director of arrival, departure & hospitality, Inasgoc Indra Gamulya, expressed his gratitude to Kombatta for its support for the 18th Asian Games.

"Let us express our deep gratitude and appreciation to our colleagues grouped in Kombatta for their initiatives. We hope that the services at the Soekarno-Hatta Airport will give visitors a good image of Indonesia," he noted.

The support is aimed at demonstrating the commitment of Kombatta, as the supporting element of the airport, to welcome the Asian Games 2018.

Also present at the function were Deputy Chief of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police Brigadier General, Purwadi Arianto, and the executive board of the Indonesian Asian Games Organizing Committee (INASGOC).

Gamulya predicted that more than 15 thousand foreign nationals, including athletes, officials, and supporters, will visit Indonesia for the Asian Games 2018, and the airport must be ready for the influx of foreign tourists.

Chief of the Immigration Office at the Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Enang Syamsi, representing Kombatta, revealed that the immigration office and other elements of the airport are ready for the pan Asian multi-sport event.

Syamsi remarked that the airport was the main gate to welcome the participants of the Asian Games 2018 from 45 countries.

"We have committed ourselves to ensure the smooth operation of the Soekarno-Hatta Airport, including immigration, customs, security, flight safety, and traffic around the airport," he pointed out.
