The Youth and Sports Affairs Minister, Iman Nahrawi, invited the 18-year-old Zohri, who is still in Finland, to meet the President during a tele-talk from the minister`s office in Jakarta on Friday.
"I really want to meet the president, who is a great man," Zohri told the minister.
Zohri, who comes from the district of North Lombok (Lombok Utara) in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) province, plans to return home on Tuesday, July 17.
The teenager`s tremendous achievement has gained the attention of many parties, including the President.
With his achievement, the orphaned athlete is expected to get plenty of bonuses, either in the form of money or in kind. The Youth and Sports Affairs Ministry will award a Rp250 million bonus to Zohri.
Nahrawi expressed his delight at Zohri`s accomplishment, saying he hoped the teenager could sustain his success and that the results of the world championship would motivate him to go for a significant showing at the 2018 Asian Games, which will be held in the cities of Jakarta and Palembang from August 18 to September 2.
Zohri notched the fastest time of 10.18 seconds, edging out the American duo of Anthony Schwartz and Eric Harrison, who both clocked 10.22 seconds, at the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) World U20 Championships.
Zohri`s prospects at the 2018 Asian Games include the 4x100-meter relay as well as the 100-meter dash.
The sprinter said he was very grateful for the bonuses he is set to receive and the feats he has achieved, and said he would continue to practice and pray. He credits his success to hard work and the guidance of his coaches.
"Insya Allah (God willing), I will not be arrogant and I will continue to train, practice, and pray," Zohri remarked.
