"Our planned security measures will give priority to the issues of terrorism, conventional crimes, congestion and land and forest fires," Chief of the National Police General Tito Karnavian said here on Monday.
The police have taken security measures long before August 18, he said.
"Some contingents, officials and advance teams will arrive in Indonesia early August. Even some of them have checked the venues of games and have done exercise," he said.
To deal with terrorist threat, Polri and TNI have caught 242 people in the wake of bomb attacks in the East Java provincial capital of Surabaya some time ago. Twenty one of the 242 people were shot dead as they resisted arrest.
The conventional crimes including thefts and robberies have been committed in the jurisdiction of the four provincial police, including the Jakarta Metropolitan Police, the West Java provincial police, Banten provincial police and South Sumatra provincial police.
"Thousands of people have been arrested and detained for their involvement in conventional crimes, and hundreds of them have been detained," he said.
