"The community should not be easily influenced by traditional drug promotion as their quality could not be guaranteed," Chairman of the Indonesian Consumers Foundation (YLKI) for North Sumatra, Abubakar Sidik, said here on Thursday.
Excessive drug promotion must be supervised by the Center for Food Drug Monitoring, the Health Service and other related institutions.
"(The people should be careful) because there are many traditional medicine manufacturers who are promoting their products, claiming that they can cure all kinds of diseases suffered by the community," Abubakar said.
However, (many of) the medicines have no medicinal property as the manufacturers have promised.
