Mecca, Saudi Arabia (ANTARA News) - A Saudi Arabian donor institution, Rabithah Alam Islami (League of Muslim Countries), delivered aid to the Lombok earthquake victims, Rabithah`s Secretary General Dr. Muhammad Abdul Karim Al-Isa said in a statement via a short message service received by Antara here on Wednesday.

For two days, August 18 and 19, 2018, the institution based in Makkah distributed foods to six thousand refugees in East Lombok.

In addition to food aid, Rabithah also provided blankets and mattresses to the refugees.

Delegates from Saudi Arabia, along with a representative of the Rabithah office in Jakarta, directly distributed the aid to the people in Lombok.

Al-Isa hoped that the people of West Nusa Tenggara, especially those living in Lombok, were always prevented from disasters.

The leader of the institution, which has established since the 1960s, also stressed that Rabithah always provides humanitarian aid to Muslims who experience calamities throughout the world.

Foods, blankets, and mattresses are part of the first phase of the humanitarian aid provided by Rabithah. In the second stage, the institution will focus on building and repairing mosques, which were destroyed due to the earthquake in Lombok.

The Indonesian National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) has stated the death toll due to the Lombok earthquake has reached 515 people.
