China took the second place in the race held at Rentang Dam in Majalengka, after its athlete, Tong Li, finished the race with a time of 100.17 seconds and zero penalties, followed by Chinese Taipei athlete Chuhan Chang with a time of 103.80 seconds and two seconds penalty.
Chang improved her performance after she recorded a timing of 114.59 seconds and 52 seconds of penalty in the semifinal round.
The three medals were awarded by the Secretary General of Asian Canoe Confederation (ACC), Wai Hung Luk.
The Indonesian athlete in the final round, Sumita Kurnia, reached the finish line with a timing of 148.8 seconds and failed to grab a medal.
She was ranked seventh in the race after Yazawa, Li, Chang, Kamila Safina (Kazakhstan) at 118,25 seconds, Thatchaporn Pornchai (Thailand) at 125,25 seconds, and Roxana Razeghian (Iran) at 134,03 seconds.
"We have done our best. Sumita worked hard and we really appreciated her work. This is our first participation in the single kayak Asian Games," Indonesian canoeing coach Uyun Gunawan said.
However, the Indonesian team still has the opportunity to win medals from the men`s single kayak through its 21-year-old athlete, Arifal, who will compete in the semifinal round on Thursday (23/8).
