"This era also encourages the occurrence of changes that are so extraordinary," said Sri Adiningsih, during a working visit to the Medan City Government, and was received directly by the Mayor of Medan, H.T. Dzulmi Eldin, Thursday.
However, she reminded, that the condition must be responded positively.
"I think, the Industrial Revolution 4.0, in each stage brings people to a better and more prosperous life," said Adiningsih.
She said, internet penetration opened wider access to knowledge, advances in telecommunications technology, and also played a role in developing the economy of the community. Digitization also took place in various fields.
In connection with that, she explained, it is necessary to continue to transform the economy into a digital economy.
She said, the digital economy is becoming increasingly common in various regions of Indonesia, and thus opening up opportunities, as well as the economic development potential of the region.
"We have enormous potential to grow rapidly, and I am sure the Indonesian people are ready to compete in the digital era," she remarked.
Meanwhile, Medan Mayor HT Dzulmi Eldin said that Medan was one of the most important regional economic centers on Sumatra Island and one of the three new metropolitan cities in Indonesia.
In addition, according to him, Medan also has a strategic position, function and role as the main gateway for regional and international services, trade and financial activities in the western region of Indonesia.
"Because, the development of Medan City is directed to become a city of services, industry, trade, and also the city of education," Eldin said.
The mayor also said that the development in Medan was carried out with the vision of becoming a multicultural, competitive, humane, prosperous and religious future city.
Eldin also said, eight missions were carried out to achieve this vision. Among them is growing the stability, partnership, participation and togetherness of all city development stakeholders.
"Increasing efficiency through deregulation and debureaucratization as well as creating an increasingly conducive investment climate, including the development of regional creativity and innovation, and developing Medan as a smart city," said the Mayor of Medan. *** 4 ***
