They won two bronze medals out of three coveted in the finals of the men`s doubles, women`s doubles, and mixed doubled events.
The bronze medals were contributed by legendary men`s doubles pair Hengky Lasut/Eddy Manoppo and mixed doubles pair Taufik Asbi and Lusjr Bojoh.
Indonesian women`s doubles pair Rury Andhani and Conny Sumampouw were ranked sixth out of 12 pairs reaching the final round.
Their compatriots, Fera Damayanti/Riantini and Nunung Yulianti:Nettin Erinda, on the other hand, were placed on the 8th and 12th positions, respectively.
The three gold medals coveted on the last day were distributed to China (women`s doubles), India (men`s doubles), and Chinese Taipei (mixed doubles).
Indonesian bridge manager Eka Wahyu Kasih offered an apology after the match for the failure to win gold medals.
"Indonesia only won four bronze medals, while the target was two gold medals. My apology goes to the government, KONI (Indonesia National Sports Committee), INASGOC (Indonesia Asian Games Organizing Committee), and the public," he stated.
Hengky Ladut/Eddy Manoppo admitted that although they had conducted trials abroad, they still were unable to catch them up.
China emerged as the overall champion in the event, with three gold medals from six events, followed by Chinese Taipei, India, and Singapore, with one gold medal each.
Indonesia was ranked seventh, with four bronze medals, after Hong Kong and Thailand.
