Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Social Affairs Minister Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita has made assurance that the supply of basic necessities for refugees of West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) will be smooth.

"I have visited the affected areas and found no problems in the distribution of basic needs. I evaluated the readiness of stocks of basic needs," the minister stated here on Monday.

Kartasasmita said the stocks of basic needs were made available by various governmental and non-governmental agencies.

Regarding the reconstruction of damaged houses of residents, Kartasasmita noted that his ministry was currently awaiting the comprehensive verification results of the local government in classifying the extent of damage as minor, moderate, or heavy damage.

As soon as the verification results are announced, the government will direct the funds to the recipients` saving accounts, so they can reconstruct their houses immediately.

The social affairs minister also revealed that his side had prepared as many as 90 Psycho-social Support Services personnel, as trauma handling was also one of the main areas of focus.

As proclaimed, the Ministry of Social Affairs had prioritized rehabilitation and social protection for NTB earthquake victims as stipulated in Presidential Instruction No 5 of 2018.

The central and local governments are drafting an action plan on post-earthquake reconstruction and rehabilitation in NTB Province.

"The action plan is a document that will explain the tasks of various ministries and institutions and the allocations of funds," Head of the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) Willem Rampangilei noted at a consultation meeting on the follow-up in the handling of the impact of the NTB earthquake at the Parliament building here on Monday.

He said not all ministries and state agencies are included in Presidential Instruction No. 5 of 2018 on the acceleration of post-earthquake reconstruction in NTB. Yet, in reality, various ministries and agencies have distributed assistance to the affected areas.

He noted that all ministries and institutions had contributed to the process of accelerating recovery from the impact of the earthquake that hit NTB.

The head of BNPB explained that on Wednesday (Sept 12), a meeting will be held in NTB on the Action Plan to be led by the governor and attended by all relevant ministries and institutions.

The central government, on the other hand, will respond at a meeting scheduled to be held on Sept 18.

He also stated that since the target for the completion of reconstruction and rehabilitation was set at one to two years, the Action Plan will elaborate on the scheme until 2019.
