Jakarta, (ANTARA News) - Indonesian Ambassador to Thailand Ahmad Rusdi, represented Indonesia while receiving an award for Indonesia`s contributions and achievements in the field of South-South and Triangular Cooperation.
The award was from the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP) and the United Nations Office for South-South Cooperation (UNOSSC), based on a statement received here on Friday.
The award was given to Indonesia for having greatly contributed to the field of South-South Cooperation in the Asia Pacific region.
Rusdi received the award in the "Regional Commemoration of the United Nations Day for South-South Cooperation", in Bangkok on Wednesday (12/9).
The event was attended by more than 100 people from the diplomatic corps, UN agencies, international organizations, youth, and local media.
"Indonesia`s commitment to continue being actively involved in the South-South Cooperation is very strong. Therefore, we thank you for the award given to Indonesia," Rusdi emphasized in his speech.
This award was, at the same time, a clear proof of the appreciation of the international community toward Indonesia`s role in the field of South-South Cooperation.
Since the Asian-African Conference (KAA) in Bandung in 1955, Indonesia has actively implemented development cooperation with fellow developing countries (South-South Cooperation).
Indonesia`s assistance program in the SSC framework includes disaster management, livestock and agriculture, education, conflict resolution and peace, democracy development, and economic development.
In the period from 1999 to 2017, the Government of Indonesia has performed at least 648 SSC assistance programs attended by participants from countries in the Asia Pacific, Africa, the Middle East, the South American region and so on.
