London (ANTARA News) - Two Spanish importing companies have won the 2018 Primaduta Award for their loyalty, commitment, and performance in increasing the volume of Indonesian export products to Spain, according to a statement received by Antara here, Thursday.

The awards for Moycor Vic. SL and Joenfa. SL, the two importers of furniture products, were handed over by Indonesian President Joko Widodo during the opening ceremony of the 33rd Indonesian Trade Expo in Tangerang, Banten, on Wednesday (Oct 24).

Indonesian Ambassador to Spain Hermono will present the Primaduta Award to the winners during a reception at the Indonesian Embassy in Madrid in November 2018.

The Primaduta Award is one of the government`s programs to boost the growth of Indonesian exports to global markets.

Ambassador Hermono remarked that the accolades for the two Spanish importers demonstrated the continuity in trade relations between Indonesia and Spain as well as proved that the quality and supply of Indonesian products are well maintained.

Data from Spain`s Global Trade Atlas show that Spain`s imports of furniture products from Indonesia during the January-July 2017 period were valued at US$20,417,091, while during the same period in 2018, the value was recorded at $20,453,938, or increased by 0.18 percent.

The percentage rise is because not only do these imported products cater to the Spanish market but also other European countries.

Spanish furniture exports in 2017 were recorded at $865,857,325. In 2018, the value increased to $911,157,640, or up by 5.23 percent. This is an opportunity for Indonesia to increase the export volume of furniture products to Spain.

The Primaduta Award`s selection was based on the role of nominees in improving Indonesia`s export performance to the destination country, the performance of nominees in increasing the exports of imported products, and the types of goods imported from Indonesia.

The government is optimistic that the 2018 Primaduta Award would further encourage importers and exporters of both countries to further increase the export volume of Indonesian products to Spain.

Indonesia`s exports during the 2015-2017 period had increased from $1,481,288,148 to $2,011,925,576.
