Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan received the title of Hu?spedes de Honor de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires, or Guest of Honor of Buenos Aires, from the Autonomous City Parliament of Buenos Aires, Argentina.

The title was bestowed on Tuesday night local time for the Jakarta governor`s participation in the Urban 20 Global Summit.

Baswedan expressed gratitude to the Autonomous City Parliament of Buenos Aires for bestowing the Guest of Honor title on him. He expressed hope that the relationship between the two cities would be enhanced.

"Being a guest of honor is a special award. Of all participants of the U20 Summit, only three officials are awarded the Guest of Honor title," Baswedan remarked in a statement received by Antara here, Wednesday.

Apart from Governor Baswedan, the awards were also given to Mayor of Asuncion, Paraguay, Mario Ferreiro and Mayor of Montevideo, Uruguay, Daniel Martinez.

The awards were handed out in the main courtroom at the Palacio de la Legislatura de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires by the chairman and leaders of the Buenos Aires City Council.

Meanwhile, Deputy Chair of the Buenos Aires City Council Francisco Quintana expressed confidence that cooperation between Buenos Aires and other cities, including Jakarta, would increase public policy standards for the public.

"The U20 meeting can also be a tool to jointly promote concrete actions for people, so that a city can be more clean, inclusive, resilient, and prosperous," Baswedan added.
