Jokowi arrived at the meeting room at around 5:35 p.m. local time with First Lady Iriana Jokowi.
The president and the first lady were welcomed by Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Long and his wife Ho Ching.
Jokowi`s vehicle arrived after the Vietnamese leader Nguyen Xuan Phuc`s vehicle, followed by the vehicle of the Sultan of Brunei Darussalam, Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah.
In the opening ceremony, the heads of state/government of ASEAN countries were presented with chorus of ASEAN mars singing, and a song titled "You Raise Me Up" that Josh Groban had sung.
After the opening, the state leaders will attend the 33rd ASEAN Summit Official Dinner hosted by Prime Minister Lee.
Furthermore, the heads of state and heads of government will attend the ASEAN Plenary Meeting at 7:45 p.m. local time.
