Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The government of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has been working for four years to continuously improve the quality of teachers by organizing professional certification programs, conducting dual training skills, and ensuring the availability of teachers in disadvantaged, frontier, and outermost areas.

According to the Presidential Staff Office data, in the statement received on Monday, professional certification for teachers increased from 1,642 million in 2015 to 1,726 million in 2017.

In addition, the government also pays attention to the welfare of teachers by issuing government regulation No. 19/2017 concerning teachers and Ministerial Decree of Education and Culture No. 15/2018 concerning fulfillment of teacher workloads targeting professional allowance for 210,269 teachers with non-civil servant status and special allowance for 23,751 non-civil servant teachers.

Indonesia celebrates National Teacher`s Day on November 25 as a tribute to teachers, the unsung heroes who teach kindness to students.

Jokowi congratulated the teachers, adding that teachers always remain an inspiration.

"Happy Teachers Day to all teachers from Sabang to Merauke and from Miangas to Rote Island. Teachers are an inspiration, " the president remarked at Punti Kayu Nature Park, Palembang City, South Sumatra Province.
