Vice President Corporate Secretary of Garuda Indonesia M Ikhsan Rosan said in a statement received by ANTARA in London, Sunday that the route will be served by the operation of the Boeing 777-300 ER dual class, consisted of economy and business classes and will be operating every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
CEO of Garuda Indonesia Ari Askhara stated that the reopening of the Jakarta-London-Jakarta route is a part of the corporation`s commitment in strengthening international connectivity, especially from Jakarta to London`s Heathrow airport, through a dual class fleet configuration.
"In line with the renewable business strategic commitment, the company will operate under the motto "Quick Wins Garuda Indonesia", the reopening of the Jakarta-London return flight route certainly became a special achievement for Garuda Indonesia in line with its commitment to improve performance through aligning cost structure, which continues to show positive results," he said.
The reopening of the flight route also supported the efforts to widen the network of international connectivity, especially between London and Jakarta, as the number of tourist visits from the United Kingdom to Indonesia showed a significant increase.
The Central Bureau for Statistics revealed that the number of foreign tourists originating from the UK, especially through Bali, is ranked fourth, only after China, Australia and India.
In the first nine months of 2018, the number reached 210,062 visits, which showed a 9.3 percent increase compared to the same period last year.
"We are optimistic that the reopening of the Jakarta-London return flight route will widen the market for tourism, at the same time strengthening the potentials for market share for Garuda Indonesia`s international flight," said Ari Askara.
The Jakarta-London route will be departed from Soekarno Hatta International Airport, Tangerang, via GA 086 at 12:05p p.m. local time and will arrive at London Heathrow (LHR) International Airport at 8 a.m. local time.
Meanwhile, the London-Jakarta flight will be departed from London Heathrow (LHR) International Airport at 9:55 p.m. local time and will arrive at Soekarno Hatta International Airport at 7:10 p.m. local time.
