"We have made preparations (for the effort). We have coordinated with regional governments, tour operators, and managements of tourist destinations near the toll gates to get ready (for the visits)," Head of the Public Communication Bureau at the Tourism Ministry Guntur Sakti stated here on Saturday.
To give holidaymakers information on the tourist destinations, Guntur said his side has also put up information boards at several toll gates.
He believed the move will have a significant impact on the mobilization of domestic tourists to visit the tourist destinations.
"We need to work hard as we realize that the performance of our tourism and the target of tourist arrivals this year will be hindered due to several disasters, including earthquakes in Lombok and Palu as well as plane crash," he stated.
The Trans Java toll road to become operational by the end of this year offered a momentum to increase the performance of the country`s tourism industry, he said.
Tourism Minister Arief Yahya said the ministry planned to develop the concept of nomadic tourism along the Trans Java toll road as part of the efforts to promote the tourist destinations.
Nomadic tourism is any activity or business that links nomadic lifestyle and culture using facilities, such as glamp camp, home pod, and caravan as accommodation.
The concept of nomadic tourism is one of the key solutions to the development of tourist destinations owing to its relatively fast development and growth.
The minister is keen that the program targets the millennials as one of the potential segments to develop the tourism sector.
