Balikpapan (ANTARA) - Presidential candidate number 01 Joko Widodo (Jokowi) greeted thousands of residents and fishermen on Manggar Beach in Balikpapan, East Kalimantan, Thursday.

Upon arrival at the beach at around 9:40 am local time, Jokowi was immediately greeted by thousands of people who looked so eager to shake hands with him.

The incumbent president, while standing on the bridge, also greeted hundreds of fishermen, who had tethered their boats under a bridge.

"Jokowi ... Jokowi ... Jokowi," the fishermen were soon heard making audible calls from their vessels.

During this event, the fishermen also prepared various dishes of grilled fish to be served, but due to the crowds of people thronging to the venue, he did not have the time to enjoy them.

The people continued attempting to come closer to Jokowi, so the presidential security guards had to hold them, as they kept making attempts to approach him.

Jokowi was at Manggar Beach for some 30 minutes, thereafter heading to the event at the City Dome of Balikpapan for a grand meeting.
