"From the data we collected on the accident, two students died, 20 were seriously wounded, and 28 others, including teachers, got minor injuries, " Sukabumi Police Chief Adjunct Senior Commissioner Nasriadi said in Sukabumi on Sunday.
The seriously-wounded students and teachers of MAN 3 Surade had got rushed to Jampangkulon Hospital for having medical treatment while those sustaining light injuries were allowed to go home. The tour bus with police number B 7326 TGB belongs to PO City Trans Utama, he said.
The bodies of Irma and Sukenti, two students who died in the accident, had been brought by the families for burial.
"We are still investigating this single accident. There are five buses that go home from having an excursion in Bandung but one of the got accident," he said.
According to the Sukabumi police investigator Adjunct Commissioner Galih Bayu Raditya, the accident might be caused by the driver's failure to control his vehicle after driving it at high speed on a winding road. As a result, he hit a big tree.
