"Hence, we must conduct a thorough evaluation. We will prepare a format to ensure electoral efficiency, albeit being held in different stages," Patria said here on Thursday evening.Jakarta (ANTARA) - Chairman of Gerindra Party's Executive Board Ahmad Riza Patria revealed that his side is seeking a complete assessment of the simultaneous legislative and presidential elections held on April 17, 2019.
"We should conduct a complete evaluation. We will prepare a format to ascertain electoral efficiency, albeit being executed in different stages," Patria noted here on Thursday evening.
The simultaneous legislative and presidential elections were aimed at saving time, energy, and costs, when in fact, the execution was frenzied, expensive, and claimed the lives of several executors owing to exhaustion after toiling prolonged hours at work, he noted.
"We will conduct an evaluation in the Commission II of the House of Representatives (DPR), along with the Government, General Election Commission (KPU), and Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu), and call for legislative ad presidential elections to be held separately next time," he remarked.
The number of election officers losing their lives reached 225, in addition to 16 police officers and 33 election supervisory officers, largely dying of overwork.
Indonesia held the world's biggest and most complicated single-day election on April 17, 2019, with eligible voters reaching over 192 million, though the turnout was some 80 percent.
The KPU had established some 810 thousand polling stations throughout Indonesia and overseas. EDITED BY INE
