We see plentiful opportunities for synergy between the Philippines and Indonesia, and via this platform we are upbeat of business ties between both nations increasing
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The First Philippine-Indonesian Economic and Investment Summit is expected to help enhance bilateral business cooperation between both nations, the chairman of the Philippine Business Club in Indonesia stated.

"An economic and investment summit of the two nations is being held for the first time. We see plentiful opportunities for synergy between the Philippines and Indonesia, and via this platform, we are upbeat of bilateral business ties between both countries increasing," Antonio Capati, chairman of the Philippine Business Club Indonesia, informed the press here on Tuesday.

Capati was also optimistic that this summit would offer a viable platform as earlier highlighted by Shinta Kamdani, deputy chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin).

Capati opined that if the Philippines and Indonesia begin offering facilities to ease businesses, opportunities for conducting bilateral business too will increase.

"Moreover, if we begin offering facilities for conducting business, it will also provide much more opportunities," he pointed out.

The First Philippine-Indonesian Economic and Investment Summit was officially opened by Philippine Ambassador to Indonesia Leehiong T. Wee during a ceremony attended by the Philippine tourism minister and Shinta Kamdani, as well as several businessmen from both nations.

Various issues covering infrastructure development, the tourism industry, and development of a start-up ecosystem in the Philippines and Indonesia were under discussion at the summit.
