The presence of capable cabinet members is crucial, considering the fact that Indonesia's economic growth rate in the first five-year term of the Joko Widodo (Jokowi) leadership needs to be evaluated, Mardani Ali Sera told journalists here on Tuesday.
By having capable economic ministers in his future cabinet line-up, the government is expected to be able to create more jobs, and improve its performance in increasing exports of domestic products and inflows of foreign investment, he said.
The capable candidates who would be recruited for his future cabinet should not merely be the elites of political parties but could also be those from outside political parties, said Sera who is currently chairman of the PKS Central Executive Board.
Jokowi has also been advised to prioritize bright youth, women, people with disabilities, and people coming from remote areas, he said, adding that those in Papua, Maluku, Sulawesi, and Kalimantan have the right to get representation in the cabinet.
However, they should be recruited by not ignoring the importance of their integrity, track records, and capabilities, he added.
The General Elections Commission (KPU) had officially declared on Sunday that Jokowi and his running mate, Ma'ruf Amin, were the president-elect and vice president-elect of Indonesia following the Constitutional Court's (MK's) final ruling.
The MK's final ruling, which was declared on June 27, 2019, had paved the way to confirm the Jokowi-Amin victory based on the final tally that the KPU had officially announced on May 21, 2019.
The final tally declared by the KPU at around 1:28 a.m. local time on May 21 indicated the Jokowi-Amin pair had secured 85 million votes, or 55.5 percent of the national vote, as against the contenders, Prabowo-Sandi's, 68 million votes, or 44.5 percent.
Jokowi and Ma'ruf Amin are scheduled to be sworn in as Indonesia's president and vice president for the 2019-2024 presidential term on October 20, 2019.
