Jakarta (ANTARA) - After receiving ex-president Soesilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY), the Democratic Party (PD) chairman, a day earlier, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) invited Gerindra Party Chairman Prabowo Subianto for a meeting at the Merdeka Palace, here, Friday.

The duo held a meeting for the second time after Jokowi was announced winner in the presidential election held on April 17, 2019, outshining retired general Prabowo. The first meeting took place at the MRT station in Lebak Bulus, South Jakarta, on July 13, 2019.

During the closed-door meeting on Thursday, Jokowi and SBY held discussions encompassing the latest political developments in Indonesia and a likelihood of the Democratic Party joining the political parties' coalition supporting the Jokowi administration.

Jokowi was re-elected as Indonesia's president for the 2019-2024 period based on the presidential election results.

Jokowi and his running mate, Ma'ruf Amin, won 55.5 percent of the vote as against 44.5 percent secured by his rival, retired general Prabowo in the 2019 election that was a replay of the contentious 2014 presidential election that exposed a deeper national divide, as Jokowi and Subianto went head-to-head.

Jokowi and Ma'ruf Amin will be inaugurated as Indonesia's president and vice president for the 2019-2024 term in Jakarta on October 20, 2019.

Following the inauguration, Jokowi is expected to announce the new cabinet line-up on the same or next day.

A total of 10 political parties grouped in the Indonesia Working Coalition (KIK) -- the ruling PDIP, PKB, PPP, Golkar, Nasdem, PSI, Perindo, PKPI, Hanura, and the latest one, PBB -- supported Jokowi during the presidential election.

Over 192 million eligible voters made their choice of president and vice president as well as 20 thousand local and national lawmakers during the 2019 poll.

Indonesia's simultaneous legislative and presidential elections were viewed as the world's largest and most complex single-day democratic exercise, resulting in some 700 poll officers becoming unexpected martyrs, among other things, owing to exhaustion after working incessantly for protracted hours.
