"The main objective of this visit pertains to investment," Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi stated after the opening ceremony of the work meeting of Indonesian ambassadors at the State Palace on Thursday.
Currently, intensive communication is ongoing between Indonesia and the UAE to discuss cooperation both between governments and business actors. In line with the plan, several memoranda of understanding will be inked during Jokowi's visit to the UAE, chiefly between business parties.
Falling short of divulging specifics on the business cooperation, Marsudi made assurance of it having significant economic value.
In addition to business matters, President Jokowi is scheduled to meet UAE's Crown Prince and attend the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week. At that forum, the president will deliver a keynote speech to discuss sustainable development and sustainable energy.
However, the main objective behind Jokowi's visit to the UAE will be to conduct the mission of attracting investment.
"This is since our emphasis is in the investment sector, and this is also a follow up to the Crown Prince's visit to Jakarta in June last year where we had discussed various projects to be implemented," Marsudi stated. Related news: Minister seeks investment from UAE in hydroelectricity development
