Jakarta (ANTARA) - Mulyanto, a House of Representatives' Commission VII member, questioned the oil and gas lifting target of 755 thousand barrels of oil equivalent per day (BOEPD) set by Indonesia’s Government in the 2020 State Budget (APBN).

In a statement here on Tuesday, Mulyanto queried whether the target was decided on the basis of an offline budget or the State Budget.

"If the (oil and gas) lifting target is based on the State Budget, everything should be calculated based on the target. All workers should move toward it or otherwise they would follow the offline budget," he noted.

The PKS politician is optimistic of the target not being missed, as the party had helped draft the budget.

In the meantime, at least 12 oil and gas projects would become operational in 2020, Indonesia's Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources stated.

The projects are expected to help develop more new resources and increase the yield for exports and domestic needs.

"The President (Joko Widodo) has instructed us to increase oil and gas lifting since our production of oil and gas has dropped in the previous years," Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Arifin Tasrif noted in a statement recently.

The Indonesian government has set an oil and gas production target at 1,946 million of barrels of oil equivalent per day (mboepd) comprising 755 mboepd oil and 1,191 mboepd of gas in the 2020 state budget. Thus, the 12 projects are expected to meet the oil lifting target set by the ministry this year.

The 12 projects include the Bukit Tua Pashe-3 project run by Malaysia's Petronas Carigali Ketapang III Ltd; Grati Pressure Lowering project by Ophir Indonesia (Sampang) Pty; Buntal-5 project by Medco Energy; Sembakung power plant construction by state-owned Pertamina EP; Randu Gunting project by Pertamina Hulu Energy; Kompresor Betung project by Pertamina EP; Malaca Strait Phase-1 (EPF) by EMP Malaca Strait; Meliwis project by Ophir Indonesia (Madura Offshore) Pty. Ltd.; Merakes project by Eni East Sepinggan Ltd.; and Peciko 8A project by Pertamina Hulu Mahakam. Related news: PHE oil, gas production surpasses its target
