Waisai, W Papua (ANTARA) - Passengers of luxury cruise ship The World will turn bird watchers to observe the cendrawasih species at Saproken Village of Raja Ampat, West Papua, on Thursday, January 23.

Only some 50 people among the total 195 tourists of the cruise ship will partake in the event to watch "the bird of paradise" dancing attraction on arrival scheduled at 3 a.m. local time, Susi, one of the travel agents managing this visit, remarked during a meeting with local authorities.

"Tourists of The World cruise ship will donate some books for the local people of Raja Ampat that will be symbolically handed over to the authorities," Susi revealed.

Head of the Tourism Bureau of Raja Ampat, Yusdi Lamatenggo, urged the event organizer to involve local tour guides from the Indonesia Tour Guide Association (Himpunan Pramuwisata Indonesia/HPI) of Raja Ampat to accompany the tourists.

"Local guides will cater to this cruise ship’s tourists during their visit to make them feel comfortable. Moreover, some additional energy will be required to hike up to reach the cendrawasih bird watching spot," Lamatenggo noted.
