Jakarta (ANTARA) - Presidential spokesman Fadjroel Rachman opined that the omnibus law on job creation is projected to boost Indonesia’s economic growth to reach 5.7-six percent and increase the number of qualified workforce by 2.7 to three million annually.

"This will support the change in economic structure to boost economic growth to 5.7 to six percent," Rachman stated here on Thursday.

The House of Representatives has incorporated the omnibus law on job creation into the national legislation program in 2020, and the draft bill has been prepared by the government.

Rachman affirmed that the omnibus law will revise 79 existing laws and 1,239 articles and focus on the simplification of regulation for economic transformation and human resource development.

In addition to economic growth and job creation, the law will boost investment to 6.6-7 percent, step up productivity that will drive income and the purchasing power, and raise consumption to 5.4-5.6 percent.

"It will also empower our small- and medium-scale enterprises that have contributed 61.7 percent to the gross domestic product and absorb 97 percent of the workforce," he stated.

The bill will maintain the minimum wage system, notwithstanding certain jobs, such as consultants and part-time workers, will have hourly wages.

It will also regulate protection for workers, who lose their jobs, and permits for foreign workers will be restricted only for certain jobs.

In addition to the omnibus law on job creation, the government will submit the omnibus law on capital city, taxation, and pharmaceutical.
