Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Joko Widodo asked prospective military and police cadets to abide by the country’s ideology and national goals.

"Candidates for teenage cadets (Capaja) of the Indonesian Military (TNI) and the National Police (Polri), I remind you to be consistent with the ideology of the state, Pancasila, the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI), and Unity in Diversity," the President said while briefing the prospective cadets virtually from Jakarta on Wednesday.

The President said the candidates, who would soon be inducted, had trained for four years and had developed high levels of discipline and expertise.

The Head of State said he was certain that keeping up with the demands of rigorous training could not have been easy.

He then reminded the prospective cadets to act in accordance with the great goals of the nation, and prepare to face a world with increasingly complex challenges.

In the future, the President said, the challenges faced by the candidates will be more severe, and demand innovative and extraordinary ways of working.

"The field of service is full of dynamics, and loaded with challenges that are more dynamic, heavier, more complex than before. The world is changing rapidly, technological disruption has affected all sectors of life,” he pointed out.

The candidates, said the President, must also be determined to maintain unity and integrity. He then advised youth officers to prioritize mutual cooperation and brotherhood while on duty.

“(Youth officers) Must provide the best service to the people, to the nation, and to the country. The TNI and Polri must always be united in facing every threat and challenge of the nation going forward, " the President said. (INE)
