"From Monday (October 5) until this Thursday, as many as 9,346 of our personnel are constantly on guard along with 10 company units. They will also be stationed as a precautionary measure for today's event," Jakarta Metro Police’s spokesman, Grand Commissioner Yusri Yunus, stated at the Senayan parliamentary complex.

Along with the police, the National Armed Forces (TNI) personnel and regional government units were also deployed as the guard forces will be stationed at some significant locations as well as for conducting patrolling.

"We adopt preventive measures by conducting patrolling," Yunus noted, adding that the Jakarta Metro Police had received a notice letter for conducting mass protests though did not issue its permit over concerns arising from the COVID-19 pandemic.

The police have arrested some 400 people suspected to be rioters based on Yunus’ presumption that they were not part of the group of protesters mostly comprising college students and labors.
