We need to help each other in the spirit of solidarity
Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Joko Widodo attached high importance to multisectoral unity and collaboration as instrumental in achieving an onward Indonesia.

The president made the statement during the commemoration of Youth Pledge Day delivered via a video and accessed from Jakarta, Wednesday.

"We need to help each other in the spirit of solidarity. There is no (division between) Java, Sumatra, Sulawesi, or Papua. There is only fellow countrymen of the nation," he affirmed.

The head of state called for constantly striving to maintain unity while adding that all parties should come together to nurture the spirit of Indonesia with a spirit of comradery.

The president called to continually endeavor to uphold unity by respecting differences, nurturing tolerance, and continuing to maintain the integrity and sovereignty of the Republic of Indonesia.

Widodo believed that to achieve a united Indonesia, all must also work together for fair and equitable development of the country and build a centric Indonesia from the outskirts, villages, and the frontier islands to the border.

"We are also building infrastructure that facilitates interregional, inter-island connectivity to unite Indonesia," the president explained.
