Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Joko Widodo said the holding of the National Culture Week (PKN) 2020 proved that cultural practitioners and artists do not bow to the novel coronavirus.disease (COVID-19).

Despite the difficult time and challenge, everybody must continue to be creative and step forward to develop the better memory of the Indonesian nation in the future, he said while opening the PKN 2020 virtually here on Saturday.

This is the second time for the President to attend the event.

Jokowi noted that the challenge given by Indonesia's geographic condition has formed the nation's optimism and never-give-up attitude.

"For centuries our ancestors had been accustomed to all the challenges, kept harmony with the nature and built culture and noble values," he said.

He further appealed to all sides to continue to do master works and tap local wisdom by always abiding by the health protocols during the COIVID-19 pandemic.

"Continue to do works by complying with the health protocols, unearth the local wisdom to face disasters and respect the earth as highly as possible," he said.
