Jakarta will recruit professional workers to conduct contact tracing. They will not be volunteers, but professional workers.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Jakarta provincial government plans to recruit 1,545 contact tracing officers and 10 data managers as part of efforts to tackle the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Jakarta will recruit professional workers to conduct contact tracing. They will not be volunteers, but professional workers,” Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan said at the Jakarta Provincial Legislative Council (DPRD) building on Tuesday.

The recruitment of contact tracing officers and data managers is aimed at expanding contact tracing of residents exposed to the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19), he informed.

Applicants can register with local authorities voluntarily and at their own initiative, he said adding, they will be employed as professional workers to help expand the reach of contract tracing.

The contact tracing officers will be employed for the month of December, 2020. They may be re-employed, depending on the progress of the COVID-19 pandemic, Baswedan informed.

"Of course, we will follow (the progress of) the pandemic. Since this budget year will end in December, we will look at the development ahead (to take a call on their re-employment),” he said.

Candidates applying for the posts of contact tracing officers and data managers need to fill out and submit a form and upload their latest diploma and certificate of good health by 11.59 p.m. WIB (West Indonesia Standard Time), November 4, 2020.

Those applying for the post of contact tracing officers should hold at least a D III diploma in the field of health and be comfortable using mobile phone applications.

Meanwhile, the applicants for data manager posts at district/municipal level should be at least S2 graduates in the field of health, and preferably hold epidemiology registration certificates (STR).
