Jakarta (ANTARA) - An earthquake measuring 6.3 on the Richter scale shook West Sumatra Province on Tuesday, though no tsunami warning was issued, the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) stated.

The quake, which struck at 8:44 a.m. local time, was centered 109 kilometers southwest of Tuapejat, West Sumatra, at a depth of 10 kilometers, the agency noted.

No immediate report was received of casualties or material damage.

On June 10, 2020, an earthquake of magnitude 5.7 also jolted the West Sumatra provincial capital of Padang, compelling employees of the West Sumatra Governor's Office to flee outdoors.
