Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and his entourage departed on a work visit to Yogyakarta and Central Java on Wednesday to witness up-close the implementation of mass vaccinations, among other things.

President Jokowi departed from the Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base here at 8 a.m. local time aboard the Indonesian Presidential Airplane.

Upon arrival at the Adisutjipto Air Force Base, Sleman District, Jokowi headed to the Bagong Kussudiarja Art Hall (PSBK), Kembaran Hamlet, Tamantirto Village, Kasihan Sub-district, Bantul District, where the vaccination activity was being conducted.

Several Yogyakarta artists and men of culture were scheduled to receive the first vaccine jab.

In the afternoon, the head of state and his entourage will return to the Adisutjipto Air Force Base and then depart for the Ahmad Yani Army Main Air Base, Semarang City, Central Java Province.

In Semarang, Jokowi will observe the mass vaccinations for ulama, interfaith leaders, and students at the Convention Hall, Grand Mosque of Central Java.

The president is later scheduled to head to the Gradhika Bhakti Praja Building at the Central Java Governor Office Complex to review another mass activity for public servants.

The president and his entourage are scheduled to return to Jakarta in the afternoon.

Members of the president's entourage comprise Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, Presidential Military Secretary M. Tonny Harjono, Commander of the Presidential Security Guard Major General Agus Subiyanto, and Deputy for Protocol, Press, and Media of the Presidential Secretariat Bey Machmudin.
