Putussibau, Kapuas Hulu (ANTARA) - A fire gutted five houses in the Ujung Said Village, Kapuas Hulu District, West Kalimantan Province, on early Saturday, resulting in the forced displacement of tens of people.

"From the report we have received, five houses caught fire before dawn or at around 3 a.m. local time," Chief of the Kapuas Hulu District Disaster Mitigation Board (BPBD) Gunawan stated here on Saturday.

Gunawan remarked that the houses belonged to Alidat/H. Angguk, Usman, H. Ardiansyah, H. Abu Bakar, and Masrun.

He noted that the local people, with the assistance of related parties, were able to extinguish the blaze after it razed five houses.

No injuries or fatalities were reported.
