Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) along with his entourage visited and reviewed the readiness of the industrial zone in Batang District, Central Java, to be utilized as an investment zone on Wednesday.

"This afternoon, I am following up to access the readiness of the industrial area in Batang," the president stated during a virtual press conference from Batang as broadcasted on the Presidential Secretariat channel in Jakarta on Wednesday.

Jokowi was accompanied by public works and public housing minister, the Investment Coordinating Board chief, Central Java governor, Batang District head, and officials of the national plantation holding PTPN, and manager of Grand Batang City.

According to the president, of the total 4,300 hectares of land to be worked on, 450 hectares were ready and would be utilized for technology-related investments.

The head of state urged that the area be utilized in the near future and that the project absorb as much manpower as possible.

President Jokowi has conducted routine checks in the Batang industry zone to soon serve as a pilot project for other industrial zones.
